Who this is

This Privacy Policy explains how Trip with Sumi ("we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use tripwithsumi.com to order a Seoul, Retold book, or otherwise contact us. It applies to every language version of the site (English, 日本語, 繁體中文, 简体中文).

What we collect

When you send us your trip and place an order, we collect:

• Contact information — your name and email address.
• Your trip content — the places you visited, dates, who you were with, and the personal stories you write for us.
• Your photos — the photos you upload to be used in your book.
• Shipping information (hardcover and bundle orders only) — street address, city, state/province, postal code, country, and phone number. For a small number of countries, we also collect a national tax ID, which our printing partner's customs process requires.
• Order details — the book style, format, and add-ons you choose.
• Payment confirmation — we never see or store your card number or PayPal login. PayPal handles payment directly and only passes us a payment confirmation and the amount paid.
• Basic site analytics — via Google Analytics, we collect general, non-identifying information about how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location by country, device type). This is standard web analytics, not used to identify you personally.

How we use it

We use your information only to:

• Write and produce your personalized Seoul, Retold book.
• Communicate with you about your order — confirmation, production updates, shipping, and any follow-up needed to get your order right.
• Fulfill and ship physical (hardcover) orders through our print partner.
• Improve the site and understand, in aggregate, how it's used.

We do not use your photos or personal stories for our own marketing, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum information necessary with the following service providers, solely to deliver your order:

How long we keep it

We keep your order information and photos for as long as needed to produce your book and handle any follow-up questions or reprint requests. If you'd like us to delete your photos and personal data after your order is complete, email us and we will.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you — just email us at tripwithsumi@gmail.com.

If you're in the European Economic Area or UK, you have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, data portability, and objection to processing. If you're a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

Security

Your uploaded photos are stored with an unguessable access key, not publicly listed or searchable, and only accessed to produce your book. We use industry-standard providers (Netlify, PayPal) that maintain their own security certifications for the infrastructure we build on.

Children's privacy

Seoul, Retold is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
